Our Mission
We aim to celebrate, uplift, and connect migrant voices in sustainability and environmental fields (conservation, agriculture, climate justice, clean energy, etc), so we can learn from each other and amplify our voices through collaboration, research, support, education, and advocacy.
Our Vision
We envision a world in which migrant voices and priorities and knowledges are valued and uplifted and migrant communities are supported through sustainability and environmental solutions.
Our strength lies in embracing the diversity of migrant voices, defining our collective future, and working together to create a positive impact on the world.
Our History
In 2024, Katia Pilar Carranza from Equity in Sustainability Consulting formed this initiative to facilitate networking, knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and advocacy that supports migrants and their priorities in sustainability fields with a globally connected lens. As a migrant professional and community organizer in sustainability, she was motivated to volunteer to guide these efforts because she noticed a lack of representation and leadership of migrants in sustainability and environmental spaces while she participated in cross-scale advocacy and collaborative initiatives.
In 2025, Anna Tinoco-Santiago, who is the Community Engagement Specialist for the Center for Sustainable Communities Research and Education (SCoRE), reached out about supporting and growing the community conversations, which is when the grassroots Migrants in Sustainability Collaborative was cultivated to continue the efforts.
Our Goals

We will create a network that provides a safe space for migrants to connect with each other, find support, and share resources across scales.

We will create a community-driven network that supports the priorities and work of Migrants in Sustainability.

We will gather and amplify the priorities of Migrants in Sustainability.

We will educate migrant communities on advancing their priorities in sustainability as well as educate allies in terms of supporting migrant priorities and knowledges in solutions.

We will create an Advocacy and Education Platform to uplift and advance the priorities of Migrants in Sustainability with tangible impacts across organizations, programs, and policies.

We will find partners that can support and fund our work.
